Ultrasound and Chiropractor

Well, 125 days to go...or so I thought. I had an ultrasound yesterday and they changed my due date. I kind of expected it because they did the same when I was pregnant with Daisy. New due date is November 9 which is 8 days later than my previous date. I guess 133 days to go. Whatever floats their boat. Maybe he could be two days late and have the coolest birth date ever: 11-11-11. Or just come on the 1st...I'm good with early, and it'd still be a pretty cool birth date. I didn't really plan on going on so long about the date change, but there you go...

So, the ultrasound was just a routine one and Calvin appears to be doing super wonderful. I really didn't like the ultrasound tech this time around. I told her that it really hurts for me to lay down on the table (I'll talk about that more later). She proceeded to take a terribly LONG time doing the ultrasound. Seriously, I think I was laying there for at least half an hour. I couldn't get up by myself when she was finally done. Plus, she didn't tell me much of what she was seeing, even after I asked. But, at least she got a couple fun pictures.

Here he is all folded up with his legs in his face.

And here he's sticking out his tongue.

About me hurting: My sacrum/hips/lower-back area have hurt in the past beginning when I was pregnant with Jack, getting worse when I was pregnant with Daisy, and now it's just plain horrible. Well, Michael got me a major hook-up. He's part of a club on campus where he learns SOT - a chiropractic technique that focuses on fixing the sacrum/hips/etc. (my problems). The chiropractor that teaches them practices in Arcadia and has had success treating pregnant women previously. Because of Michael we got a HUGE discount and I'm now able to get adjustments from him. His work is really gentle and I've already seen improvements. It's such a blessing to get this help! Meanwhile, Michael is learning all about this technique, so eventually he'll be able to give me the adjustments here at home. Perfect!

Calvin is on the move. The little flutterings are getting more and more pronounced. Still lots of room in there, though. I'm happy to say that his movements aren't hurting me yet. I really like the second trimester. I feel so much better during this trimester and I have so much more energy. I don't have to sleep quite as much as I did during the first trimester. And I'm not so uncomfortable that I can't sleep. I only wake up a few times each night to change positions or stumble into the bathroom. Thank goodness he's not squishing my bladder too much right now!

So, there's the update on me and Peanut #3. Next post is bound to have some cute pictures of Peanuts #1 and #2. Look forward to it!

Happy Father's Day 2011

Happy Father's Day! We love Daddy! This picture is from a couple weeks ago. Jack and Daisy both love books and they love spending time with Daddy, so this was some time well spent. Jack and Daisy love climbing all over Daddy any time he's within reach. Jack loves to fight (wrestle) Daddy and they chase each other all over the house. Daisy is starting to get involved too. She will walk up to Daddy and growl at him, or just throw herself on top of him when he's on the ground.

Jack gave Daddy this card they made for him in nursery....it was destroyed before I got a better picture of it.

While Michael was out helping our friends move on Saturday, the kids and I worked on making him a tie. Jack and Daisy colored it with crayons. This was Daisy's first experience coloring with crayons and she LOVED it! It seemed the world was ending by her reaction as I put the crayons away.

Daddy wore his tie to church on Sunday, which was so exciting to Jack. On the back of the tie I wrote some questions that I asked Jack and then I wrote his answers. (You must keep in mind that we had just eaten pancakes for breakfast, which Jack calls "cake".)

Me:  What does Daddy do?
Jack:  He eats the cake.
Me:  Where is Daddy?
Jack:  Daddy go to school.
Me:  What do you like about Daddy?
Jack:  Daddy eats!
Me:  Do you like to play or fight with Daddy?
Jack:  Play the fight!
Me:  What would you say to Daddy if he were here right now?
Jack:  (shrugs) He's gone. (runs and grabs his hook, holds it up high) I'm gonna fight Daddy!

Look Alikes?

A few weeks ago, Carly took this picture. I simply love it.
Now I guess I can kind of see why people ask me if they're twins.
I mean, seriously, one is way bigger...they're 17 months apart!
But this picture just shows how similar they really look.
Siblings? Without a doubt!

Potty Adventure!

Last weekend Jack sat on the potty twice (because he asked to) and each time he waited for an hour or so (I know, he's a determined little kid) before he tinkled. It was pretty exciting for me to have him pee on the potty and he seemed to really love it too! With this interest in mind, I decided that it was time to potty train Jack. I've been wanting him to be potty trained for a long time (what mother doesn't?), but I didn't want to force him and turn it into a hugely horrible experience for both of us. With baby #3 on his way I really wanted to get Jack potty trained before #3's arrival. Three in diapers just seems like too much.

So, I decided that Tuesday would be the big day. We pulled out his SpongeBob underwear. He was happy about wearing those and he really was happy that he didn't have to wear a diaper. I set my phone alarm to sound every 30 minutes. We sat on the potty a lot that day. By the end of the morning we were 1 for 6. I was running out of clean underwear. It was easy to want to quit, but I got some encouragement from Michael and continued on. That afternoon went more smoothly and when bedtime came, I was relieved to put him in a diaper for bed. I could finally relax.

Day #2 started out with a lot of poopy pants. But after naptime, Jack was clean the rest of the day! I was beginning to see hope. I think I owe it all to fruit snacks. I had been using M&Ms which he seemed to enjoy, but once I pulled out the fruit snacks he wanted to go potty CONSTANTLY. Seriously, I was watching a 40ish minute t.v. show with Michael and Jack probably peed six times during that episode! As soon as he'd finished his fruit snack, he was ready to go sit on the potty again. It was a little annoying, but I was just glad that I didn't have to clean up accidents. Day #3 I actually ventured out of the house. I was nervous, but it turned out fine. It was really good for all of us to get out of the house and see some friends. We went into a public restroom and I tried to get Jack to use the toilet, but he freaked out at that idea. We made it home accident-free anyway, thankfully. The only accidents that day were poopy ones, Jack had figured out peeing on the potty! Day #4 (yesterday) we saw progress again! Jack pooped on the potty...and he initiated going in the bathroom and everything! It made my whole week! We aren't in the clear yet, there are still some obstacles to overcome and learning to be done, but I have high hopes that my little Jack will be potty trained in the near future. And now for your entertainment, you get to see a little video clip of Jack's celebratory potty dance which I've seen quite a bit of lately:

Addendum to Baby #3 Ultrasound Announcement

Some of our friends gave us this card right after we announced we are having a baby boy.

Love it!

Baby Three's Second Ultrasound

On Daisy's birthday we were told that our insurance would not cover an ultrasound to find out the sex of my baby at this point in my pregnancy without some other medical reasons (since then we've discovered that they will cover it). Michael was determined that we find out boy or girl, so we just scheduled our own ultrasound for $50. We had the option of upgrading and getting a video in the 4D, but we really just wanted to know if it was a boy or girl. IT'S A BOY! This is one of the six or so pictures they gave us from the ultrasound. It looks pretty blobby, but it really is cool if you can figure it out. So let me try to guide you in seeing the baby. That big glare at the top is his head. That glare kind of extends to the right a bit and that is the placenta. The dark splotches below the forehead are his eyes. The bright glare to the left of and under the splotches is his right arm. Just to the right of the very center of the picture are two white spots...those are his calves. His bottom/thigh is a bright spot there just below with a light brown/gray area going down his leg (up in the picture). So, if that helps, you can see our baby boy laying on his left side, curled up, with his head on the placenta...I guess it works well as a pillow :)
