The Aquarium

This last week was very busy for me. We had a lot of fun outings. On Wednesday, we went to the Aquarium in Long Beach with our friends Nicole, Lauren, and Maren.

We waited outside for a few minutes to get our tickets and enter as a group. When we left the apartment that morning it felt nice and warm outside...thus the clothes for warm weather. However, a cold wind blew on us as we waited and I regretted not dressing the kids warmer. Shame on me.

Lauren and Daisy waited patiently in the stroller. We got a lot of comments on the "cute twins" :)

Jack and I listened and danced to the live youth orchestra that played near the entrance.

Jack met a LOT of fish. I heard a lot of "bish" (fish) and "wah-wah" (water).

Here are Jack and Maren checking out the sea lions.

Jack loved playing on this boat...

and driving it.

Here are the sea lions from above water.

There was a lot of jumping off ledges.

And landing in style.

Lots of fun and very tiring.

You gotta work for the view sometimes.

We saw lots of things that reminded us about SpongeBob. We saw Patrick Star (the starfish) and lots of jellyfish.

I'm so glad that we could go with our friends. Nicole, thanks for inviting us to come! During the car ride home, Nicole even kept Jack awake with some Skittles (his favorite) so that he'd take a good nap when we got home. However, from the time we left Nicole's house to arriving at our apartment he fell asleep and there was nothing I could do. Nap time was a goner. But the day was well worth it! So fun!

Cheerios and Balloons

Look at the persistence of this girl!

Jack loves balloons! Thanks to our friends, the Hicks', he's been playing with balloons for the last couple of days and he's been having a blast. I love the balloons too because they are a nice way to keep him occupied and entertained.

Sleep

Sleep. It's a wonderful thing. Ever since we moved this last time Jack has been a monster at bedtime though. I definitely blame it on the fact that we moved 8 times in 8 months. That's not fair to the little guy. He needs normalcy and routine. So, each night he yells and screams and escapes out of his bed more times than I have patience for. Through a lot of trial and error we are finally at a point that I am content with...for now. He has a blanket that is permanently beside our bed on the floor. A big comforter folded up into a mini bed for Jack. This is where he takes his naps and where he falls asleep at night. I know some of you are thinking how horrible, and yet, it's a step up from sleeping in the hallway on the way back to the bedrooms. After he falls asleep at night, Michael or I will scoop him up and haul him into his bedroom to sleep on his bed. Usually at some point in the night he will come creeping back into our room and sleep the rest of the night on his comforter bed. Very rarely I will get up in the morning and find him still in his own bedroom. Those are the mornings I celebrate.

I also celebrate mornings when I wake up to find that Daisy has slept through the entire night. Those mornings are few and far between, but I am hopeful they will become more abundant in the near future. She usually wakes up once during the night. She still has the occasional night where she wakes up four times. Not good for Mommy. I've been increasing the amount of solid foods she has been eating and I think that will help.

In time, both kids will sleep in their own beds all night and I will too...this is what this mother has been dreaming of lately.

Cutie La Pie

Daisy has two little teeth! With a smile like that there's no question why her daddy nicknamed her Cutie La Pie!
