It's right on the tip of my tongue...

Life is good at the Hummel household. We love our apartment and we're getting to know new people and make new friends. Michael loves his schooling and I love benefiting from it. The other day I had a killer backache. Michael tried a new technique he'd learned and put my rib back in place....it was wonderful! Now if he can just learn how to get my hips to stop hurting, I'll be living a dream! Here's a little blurb from our lives:

Daisy has an incredibly long tongue and she loves using it.

Despite the red eyes in this picture, Jack is really a sweet boy. He loves his sister, "Daiz". Every morning, she's the first person he asks about. When I put her down for a nap he's always concerned. If she's crying, he gets my attention and takes me to her. Sometimes he plays too rough and accidentally hurts Daisy, but he just loves making her laugh and smile. SUCH a good brother.

Sometimes things can get frustrating.

Or confusing...

But mostly we just laugh a lot and have fun.

This is how to eat an Eggo!

Jack ate an Eggo for breakfast a few days ago. I cut it up, syruped it, and he ate it...nothing out of the ordinary. When he had eaten it all he asked for more. I put an Eggo in the toaster and, while waiting for it to pop up, Jack decided that he was done eating. Ten minutes later he approached me and asked for more food. I retrieved the Eggo from the toaster and, not wanting to spend the time to hoist him back into his chair, cut up his Eggo, and syrup it, instead I grabbed a fork and stuck the Eggo onto it. He was a little hesitant at first, but in the end he thought it was a great way to enjoy his second breakfast...what a cute kid!

Jack's Two!

Jack turned two the day that we most recently moved. Because of the move, we kind of celebrated over a few days. However, we wanted to make Jack's birthday special even though we were moving. So that evening we spur-of-the-moment took the kids to Disneyland.

We had an incredibly fun time. The amount of time we spent there was perfect for the kids. Michael and I switched off taking Jack on rides and staying with Daisy.

We got Daisy this little light-up band. She clung to it all night and was happy as ever!

Jack got a light-up sword. He played with it the entire time he was not on a ride or waiting in line for one.

LOVED IT! What can I say? He is ALL boy. Swords, guns, balls, cars, and tools.

I'm back!

I know that it's been forever since I blogged, but I am hoping that things have settled enough that I can get back into the swing of things. We have been blessed in so many ways. It's been an incredible journey for our family to get to this place and situation. We've moved eight times in less than eight months! We feel that we are finally settled on the right path for our family...but something the last year has taught me is that the plans we make for ourselves aren't always the ones we end up actually completing, so I won't hold my breath. It seems that God has some plans for us that we just didn't see a year ago.

We live in Whittier, CA, within walking distance to Michael's school (yay!). We got really lucky getting into this apartment. Apparently the manager likes people from Utah, even if they don't have good credit...and the cute little kids helped seal the deal. Our apartment is huge (twice the size of our last one), in a nice neighborhood, our neighbors are quiet, and we have a reserved parking spot in a garage! The only upgrade I can imagine would be to have a washer and dryer in our apartment. As it is, we only have to walk it a short way to the laundry room, which I've never seen full when I wanted to do my laundry. I feel extremely happy here.

Family Pictures November 4, 2010

Finally! I got our family pictures taken. I've been looking forward to doing this ever since Jack was born. Michael just hates getting his picture taken so it was kind of like pulling teeth to get it done. Bless my friend Koreena's heart, she did so well taking our pictures and working with the kids! Just a post...a boring post.

Ok, so I don't have much of an excuse for not posting more recently, but I blame moving three times in the last two months and planning a move in the next month. Here's a little bit of an explanation:

After much prayer, tears, and gut-wrenching worrying, Michael and I decided that the path we were headed down was not good for our family. Michael withdrew from med school and we flew back to the US. We lived in Texas for a few and then moved in with my parents in Utah. Yep, all four of us are currently sleeping in a bedroom the size of...well, let's just say our queen-sized air mattress and the kids' pack n plays leave a floor space of about four square feet. Maybe five. At least we can open and close our door. See me being positive? But really, we are certainly being blessed in what we are doing. It's been fun to be around my family and see my kids get to know their cousins and grandparents and other extended family. My little sister Stacey is engaged to my soon-to-be brother-in-law, Brandon. They are getting married December 8th in the Bountiful Temple. I've been enjoying helping her plan and also getting to know Brandon. We will be staying at my parents house until the day after Brandon and Stacey get married. Then we'll be moving to California where Michael will be attending the Southern California University of Health Sciences. He is planning on doing a dual degree in Chiropractic (DC) and acupuncture and oriental medicine (AOM). This is something that Michael has always been interested in and will be a little bit less intensive than the medical schooling was....which, by the way, gives me a new respect for doctors and their families.

Anyway, to wind down on this (what I imagine to be) quite informative yet boring blog post, let me just say that I am working on some fun projects that will end up on here someday, so just bear with me and look forward to that. Also, I finally got our family pictures taken so you can look forward to seeing those really soon.
