One of Those "Moments"

Jack has been sick now for six days with a yucky cold. The cough is the worst part of it. Makes my heart hurt just hearing him cough so much. The last few nights he's had a really hard time falling asleep and staying asleep. Last night at around 11:00, he woke up crying and coughing. After a good bit I knew that he wasn't falling back asleep any time soon on his own, so I went in and got him out of his crib. We snuggled in my glider and rocked. He fell asleep as I lightly traced his face with my fingers. It's been a long time since he's fallen asleep in my arms. As I watched my baby sleep I had one of those "moments". I felt so lucky to be his mom and to be able to hold him and love him and try to make everything better. The last year has seemed to fly by and it won't be long before I'm not able to rock him and soothe him with a simple lullaby. I just felt like time stood still and I was able to really take time to appreciate what a wonderful blessing it is to have Jack in our lives. I can't really seem to put the feeling into words to do it justice, but hopefully you moms out there understand.

  1. Ugh. Hate it when I can't spell.

Your post made me smile. Those moments are what keep me going. Matty is such a pill lately, but he's growing up SO FAST and I don't like it. I try to enjoy these times because I don't want the teenage years to come too quickly!

  2. I love those moments! And don't worry, you still get them when they get older. I still get Alex up on my lap to cuddle for a few moments near bed time. And he's almost 7!! But it does go by fast, so enjoy all those moments!
