Jack's First Christmas

On Christmas Eve, we let Jack open his "first gift". Ok, actually, we opened one earlier in the week for him because...well...we just couldn't wait. Anyway, the unwrapping took some convincing, but he learned to like it.

Unwrapping the present.

Musical Jack.

This is Christmas morning. Jack actually slept in until after 9,
so we woke him up. We helped him open his presents
and watched as he became more and more spoiled.

And yet, of all the toys that he got, he finds the little piece
of cardboard in the pile to play with......kids.

Here he is in his pile of goodies.

We found this gift under the tree for Daisy from Grandpa Hummel and Grandma Terry. They're pretty sure that this baby's going to be a girl.

Michael was removing all the tags from the gifts as Jack was opening them. When he ripped this tag off, the cow's ear came with it :)

Aunt Sharon and Grandma Hummel came up for the day. Aaron and his girlfriend, Samantha, came up too, but I failed to get a picture of those two.

Grandma Hummel, Jack, me, Michael, and Megan.
Doesn't Megan look super tall?

What a fun Christmas!

Jack's Walking!

Yes, that's right! About a week before Christmas, Jack started walking short distances. Yay! He is pretty excited about his new talent. Sometimes his excitement impedes his ability to walk because it causes his upper body to get ahead of his feet. Such a happy little man!

This video illustrates his "knee-walking" he was doing
about a week before he started walking on his feet.
He would actually do this across the entire living room.

Here's Jack walking.

First Official Haircut

A few weeks ago, Dad and Terry came up to visit (and to get Tori her Christmas present). During their visit Terry gave Jack his first haircut. It was really just a trim because he was looking a little shaggy, but it was so needed and appreciated. This is a picture of Jack before.

"What are they going to do to me?"

You'll notice that Terry was the one wearing the cape :)

"Hold still."

"This is so annoying."

"How do I look?"

"That was so embarrassing..."

THIS is how you eat a Reese's.

Jack sure knows how to eat food. He loves it like his mommy. Speaking of which, I am finally over the morning sickness and enjoying food again. Yay! I must say, it got really hard there for a while having no appetite and feeling nauseous all the time. Thankfully, we are done with that phase and moving on to the second trimester which is proving to be much more enjoyable. My cravings have so far included oranges and yogurt. The yogurt is kind of weird because normally I only like yogurt about once a year. I'm still sleeping a TON and hoping that soon I'll be able to sleep a short 8 hours and not feel completely exhausted during Jack's nap time. Until then, I take full advantage of his 2 hour naps.

Thanksgiving '09

I know this post is coming a little late, but readers forgive me, I lost my camera for a bit...and I was lazy for a bit. Thanksgiving was spent in Utah mostly at my sister, Bonnie's, house. We had a great time with family and a few friends (though not as many as I had hoped). I have my niece, Sandi, to thank for most of the pictures that I have. She took pictures and some videos on Thanksgiving for me. Thus, you even get to see a rare picture of me!

This charmer is my niece, Ella.

As soon as I arrived it was, "Hi Mary, did you bring Michael with you? Where's baby Jack?" Yeah, I was the favorite until I got married...

My niece, Sarah, reading a book. She was reading about some crazy people that lived in the sewers or something...weird.

Ella, the performer.

Daniel and his favorite pal, Michael.

Jack.

Jack and Ella playing with the phone.

Abbie and Annabelle, who is just a few days older than Jack.

Gilbert and Keith carving the turkey.

The kids played with this cool keyboard-type mat that played music.

Jack learned how to play it too.

He also made his way over to the real piano.

He and Little Gilbert played a beautiful duet.

Jack and Annabelle played together.

Little Gilbert fought with a duct-taped sword.

We attempted yams, but the marshmallows caught fire.
No one was seriously injured...

Tricia and Gilbert.

Who's tickling who? Bonnie's the only one laughing...

Sarah and Ella.

Annabelle.

Little Gilbert got caught in a monster hug.

Nice one, Sandi.

Michael and Stacey fixin' the yams.

Can you pass the yam without a mistake?

Bonnie and Ella.

Sarah and Annabelle.

Little Gilbert giving his mom a hug.

Michael hiding behind Daniel.

Daniel put on his pants backwards :)

Stacey got bored...or just tired from all the playing.

Jack had a lot of fun making a big mess in the kitchen.

The day after Thanksgiving, we went shooting with the Luckesen's.

Jack "shooting" an AR-15...sweet.
